Regulating Lumens, Joules and Kilowatts

Project

James Ford Bell Technical Center (JFB)
Research and Development facility of General Mills, Inc., Golden Valley, Minnesota

Description

Built in the 1950s, this renovation included 95,000sf (20 buildings) of the 500,000sf complex. The complex needed a completely new fire detection system, including a new hi-tech command center for monitoring and operating the detection system.

Achieving Excellence

Working with consultants and contractors, RLJK's expertise in the latest electrical and fire alarm technologies came to the fore to make this renovation and upgrade cost-effective in terms of meeting deadlines, staying within budget and delivering a technologically upgraded fire alarm system to add to critical life safety components for General Mills and its employees. The contract documents created value with competitive bids between vendors.
